Gladstone's Land is a 17th century merchants house that is thought to be the oldest building in Edinburgh and is located next to the Castle. It was due to be pulled down in 1984, but the National Trust rescued it and transformed it into a historical hands-on learning centre, restoring it to illustrate what it would have been like in the 17th century, with open fires, no running water, and period furniture. They hold guided tours from 1pm-2pm on Sundays. Please call for further details.
