R R Alden & Son

Established since 1793, R R Alden & Son is one of the oldest butchers in the country. They specialise in rare-breed meats, including pork from Oxford Sandyback pigs, Longhorn beef from Christchurch meadows, and lamb from local Oxford Down sheep. They are also renowned sausage-makers and still follow the shop's original recipes, including the famed Oxford Sausage, which they claim to have invented.
