The Bar Convent is home to England's oldest working convent community, which is still working and active today. This museum traces the history of York's early Christian history and life within a convent. It also has the original 18th century domed chapel complete with a hiding hole for the priest. A voluntary guide is available on Wednesdays. There is also a cafe which is open from 10am to 4pm.
